Health security advisory

Be ready before the next outbreak

We help ministries of health, public health institutes, regional bodies and donors assess their preparedness, plan what comes next and secure the funding to deliver it.

Preparedness is decided before the outbreak

When a new threat appears, what counts is what was already in place: trained people, working laboratories, clear plans and money that can move quickly.

Many countries know their gaps from Joint External Evaluation scores, but turning those scores into costed, funded action is harder. That is where we help.

  • Assessments that lead somewhereEvery assessment ends with agreed priorities, costs and owners, not just a score.
  • Plans that can be fundedWritten in the language that donors and finance ministries use to make decisions.
  • Regional by designOutbreaks cross borders, so our advice connects national plans to regional systems.

How an assignment works

Most assignments follow five steps. Short technical pieces can take a few weeks; national planning processes usually run over several months.

  1. Weeks 1 to 2

    Scope

We agree the questions to answer, the stakeholders to involve and the timeline.

  2. Early

    Assess

We review data and documents, interview stakeholders and visit sites where needed.

  3. Middle

    Prioritise

We work with you to agree priorities, costs and who is responsible for each action.

  4. Later

    Plan and fund

We write the plan or proposal and support conversations with funders.

  5. After

    Support delivery

We stay available for follow-up, or move with you into programme delivery.

We are based in Abuja and Birmingham. Most of our work is in West Africa, and Dr Agogo has experience across more than 15 countries in Africa, South Asia and the United Kingdom.

Can you work alongside WHO, Africa CDC and other partners?
